Floor Terminal - Inventory Allocation

Flutter Developer

Proprietary internal system — deployment restricted to closed network.

Case Study Narrative

The business context and technical outcomes of this project.

01. The Problem

Warehouse and production teams needed a faster, more reliable way to scan inventory and confirm cut-piece allocations without repeated manual ERP checks or paperwork.

02. The Challenge

Create a mobile-first tool for operators working on the floor, allowing quick QR scanning and reliable allocation decisions without complex manual entry in busy warehouse conditions.

03. The Solution

Developed a Flutter workflow app that scans stock QR codes, fetches product details from an ERP-connected backend, validates allocation quantities, and stores recent inventory and session context locally through Hive for faster, more resilient operational use.

04. The Result

Reduced manual operational friction and improved allocation accuracy by digitizing the warehouse scan-and-confirm workflow while keeping recent stock context available on-device.

Key Engineering Challenges

A detailed breakdown of low-level infrastructure and systems problems successfully solved during implementation.

ERP-connected scan and allocation workflow
Warehouse-friendly QR scanning UX
Quantity validation and allocation confirmation
Local data caching for recent stock and allocation context
Session-based backend authentication with secure token persistence

The Challenge

Problem Statement

Warehouse floor operations were disconnected from the ERP system, making stock lookup and allocation slower and more error-prone. The app needed to support fast scan-driven workflows with clear confirmation and reliable local context for operators.

Stock Lookup Delays
Manual Data Entry
Operational Visibility

Research & Decisions

ERP Integration

Connected the mobile workflow to ERP-backed inventory operations using REST requests and session-based authentication with secure token persistence.

Local Caching

Uses Hive to retain recent stock and session context for faster lookups and more resilient on-device workflows in live operational environments.

Floor-Grade UX

Designed around fast warehouse interactions with a clear scan-and-confirm flow, strong visual hierarchy, and operator-friendly on-device actions.
